Irene Cara, who starred in and sang the theme song to the hit 1980 movie “Fame“, passed away Friday at her home in Florida at the age of 63. At time of post, her publicist said no cause of death is known yet. Her biggest hit came in 1983 with the theme to the film Flashdance, “What a Feeling”.
Irene’s television debut came when she was just 8 years old. Here’s part of her performance on the “Ted Mack Amateur Hour”. (Did you know she was a finalist in the Little Miss America Contest?)
Irene also appeared regularly on the PBS show, “The Electric Company“.
