Former Led Zeppelin singer Robert Plant will release his 11th studio album album Carry Fire on October 13th, the first since his 2014 album Lullaby and the Ceaseless Roar. Plant released the first single from the album, The May Queen, which can be listened to below.
Plant describes his creative process, “It’s about intention. I respect and relish my past works, but each time I feel the incentive to create new work, I must mix old with new. Consequently, the whole impetus of the band has moved on its axis somewhat – the new sound and different space giving way to exciting and dramatic landscapes of mood, melody and instrumentation.”
Plant’s backing band will be The Sensational Shape Shifters, who helped Plant on his previous album. Chrissie Hynde of The Pretenders is featured on the album, covering the 1958 song “Bluebirds Over the Mountain”.
