Marvel Comics will be giving several famous classic rock albums a comic book makeover. Due out in September, Team Rock reports the collection will feature Marvel characters reimagined as some of the most iconic album covers.
For example. Rocket Raccoon from Guardians of the Galaxy has taken the place of the baby swimming on Nirvana’s Nevermind album. Instead of swimming, he’s pictured floating in space towards some money. While Marvel’s group The Inhumans have taken their place on Guns N’ Roses’ Appetite for Destruction. The most accurate depiction might be of Thor taking the place of The Clash on their London Calling album, where the Norse character is slamming down his hammer in place of a guitar. The fourth and final one released so far features the X-Men standing in for Blondie’s Parallel Lines album. The whole collection is set to be released in comic book stores in September.
Back in 2015, Marvel released a similar collection that featured their characters reimagined on about two dozen hip-hop albums. Even though there has been no official word on more Marvel rock n’ roll covers, many expect more to be released due to the success of the 2015 release.
