A concert that left everybody soaking wet also left everyone with a night to remember. The San Francisco Fest 2016 tour, which consisted of Dave Mason, The Doobie Brothers, and Journey was three hours of great songs, talented musicians, and pouring rain. The show kicked off around 7pm with Dave Mason and his band playing about an hours worth of music. His famous song “Feelin’ Alright” had everyone up and dancing. It’s no surprise Mason is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame because of how talented he is at guitar. Next up on the bill was The Doobie Brothers, who played a total of 15 songs. Their setlist had songs from 6 different albums, including their famous cover of “Jesus Is Just Alright” which they opened the show with. The band had a very tight sound with killer harmonies that had everyone singing along to their staple “Listen to the Music.” After about a 20 minute intermission, Journey came onstage around 9:30 with a strong version of “Separate Ways (Worlds Apart).” The set included all of Journey’s big hits, as well as the stories behind writing them. Fireworks from the park were going off as Journey was finishing up their set with “Faithfully” and “Don’t Stop Believin”, which was a nice touch. I definitely recommend seeing Journey to anyone who has the chance to. The band seemed to be really into it, which doesn’t always happen with bands who are basically asked to just play their hits.
