It has been 50 years since The Monkees’ television series began and they are celebrating it by releasing a new album and a large-scale reunion tour. The album, Good Times! is designed to honor the band’s work during the 1960’s, as well as highlight some of the bright stars in the music industry today. A good portion of the album features songs that were originally written for them back in the 60s, but never ended up releasing. While the rest of the album features songs written by some of today’s artists, such as Rivers Cuomo (lead singer of Weezer), as well as Ben Gibbard (lead singer of Death Cab for Cutie), Noel Gallagher and Paul Weller. The album marks the first by the band in nearly 20 years. It will be released on May 27th and their tour began in Fort Myers, FL on May 18th.
