2014 Cans for Cars Official Rules
Contest Name: Cans for Cars (hereafter, “the Contest”)
Companies: C. Basil Ford; Joe Basil Chevrolet; Basil Resale Sheridan and Transit; Basil Resale South; Basil Resale Delaware; Basil Toyota; Basil Chevrolet Buick Cadillac; Robert Basil Buick GMC Cadillac; (hereafter, “the Basil
Automotive Group”).

The Basil Automotive Group will conduct the Contest substantially as described in these rules, and by participating, each participant agrees as follows:
1. Cans for Cars is a promotional event to drive traffic to the Basil Automotive Group. Simply for stopping at any of the Basil Automotive Group’s locations, participants fill out one donor registration entry per day and enter it online. Every day a finalist will be chosen and announced on 97 Rock. At the giveaway, all one hundred finalists will be present and be given a number. On September 3, at approximately 6:00 PM, the finalist whose number is called last, wins $2,333.33 from each of the previously mentioned, independently owned and operated, Basil dealerships. $2,333.33 from each of the previously mentioned independently owned and operated Basil dealerships will allow the winner of the contest to purchase any of the following vehicles:
A. ’14 Chevrolet Malibu from Joe Basil Chevrolet
B. ’14 Chevrolet Malibu from Basil Chevrolet Buick Cadillac
C. ’14 Ford Fusion from C. Basil Ford
D. ’14 Toyota Camry from Basil Toyota
E. ’14 Volkswagen Passat from Basil Volkswagen
F. Any used in-stock vehicle from any of the Basil Resale Centers, not to exceed $21,000 in value.
G. Or a ’13 Rental Buick Verano from Robert Basil Buick GMC Cadillac
H. No cash alternative
I. Vehicle must be in stock and winner must take delivery by September 30th, 2014.
i. Dates of Contest: The Contest will begin on May 26th, 2014 and end on September 3, 2014
ii. How to Enter: Simply stop by any of the Basil Automotive Group’s nine locations and enter on the digital entry form from September 30th, 2014 through May 26th, 2014. How to Win: The Basil Automotive Group will conduct a random drawing of all completed official entry forms submitted at every day during the Contest and announced live on air every morning on 97 Rock. Entry forms must be entirely completed to qualify. One hundred (100) Qualifiers will be selected. The Grand Prize Event will take place on September 3, 2014 starting at 6:00pm ET at Basil Volkswagen. Qualifiers must be checked in to the event between 5:00pm and 6:00pm to remain eligible for the Grand Prize. Qualifiers not registered with a WGRF staff member by 6:00 ET may be disqualified. When checking in, Each contest will receive a numbered badge in the order that they register (1-100). Each badge will list one (1) of ten (10) Classic Rock Bands on them.
Shortly after 6:00 pm, a reverse drawing will begin by drawing the name of a Classic
Rock Band. Contestants with the band announced on their badge will be eliminated. The
reverse drawing will continue for nine (9) times until the final contestants remain.
The final number of contestants who have a badge with the remaining band will pick a
sealed “97 Rock bag”. One (1) bag will contain a key. The person that picks that bag will
be the Grand Prize winner.(subject to confirmation of eligibility). The Grand Prize winner
wins $2,333.33 from each of the previously mentioned, independently owned and operated, Basil
dealerships. $2,333.33 from each of the previously mentioned independently owned and operated
Basil dealerships will allow the winner of the contest to purchase any of the previously mentioned
vehicles (A, B, C, D, or E).
iii. Other Requirements
Participants are allowed one visit, per day, per dealership to fill out
registration slip(s).
Participants must be at least 18 years of age on or before September 3, 2014.
No purchase is necessary.
Winner, or proxy, must be present to win. The Basil Family of Dealerships
will not provide a proxy under any circumstances, with one exception: If a
travel ban due to an act of God is initiated by any government agency which
impairs travel to the giveaway on September 3, 2014, the Basil Family of
Dealerships reserves the right to provide a proxy for any finalist.
Winners must choose their vehicle within 30 days of winning. Vehicle must
be in stock.
2. Grand Prize. Each independently owned and operated Basil dealership will contribute
$2,333.33 toward the purchase of one of the previously mentioned vehicles (A, B, C, D, or E)
all valued at roughly $21,000.00. There is no cash alternative. If a winner is disqualified, the
Basil Automotive Group reserves the right to determine an alternate winner.
3. Eligibility and Limitations: Participants and winner must be U.S. residents at least 18 years of
age as determined by the Basil Automotive Group. Employees of the Basil Automotive
Group, the Contest’s participating sponsors and their advertising agencies, employees of
other television or radio stations, and members of the immediate family of any such persons
are not eligible to participate or win. The term “immediate family” includes spouses,
siblings, parents, children, grandparents, and grandchildren, whether as “in-laws,” or by
current or past marriage(s), remarriage(s), adoption, co-habitation or other family extension,
and any other persons residing at the same household whether or not related.
4. Contestants must enter online at one of the nine Basil Family Dealerships.
5. Publicity; Use of Personal Information. By participating, all participants and winner grant the
Basil Automotive Group exclusive permission to use their names, characters, photographs,
voices, and likenesses in connection with promotion of this and other contests and waive any
claims to royalty, right, or remuneration for such use. By participating in the Contest,
participants agree that the Basil Automotive Group may disclose personal information
obtained from participants in the Contest to third parties and such use of information for
marketing and other purposes.
6. Release. By participating, each participant and winner waives any and all claims of liability
against the Basil Automotive Group, its employees and agents, the Contest’s sponsors and
their respective employees and agents, for any personal injury or loss which may occur from the conduct of, or participation in, the Contest, or from the use of any prize. In order to receive the prize, participants must sign an official waiver form provided by the Basil Automotive Group.
7. Taxes. Any valuation of the prize stated above is based on available information provided to the Basil Automotive Group, and the value of any prize awarded to a winner may be reported for tax purposes as required by law. The winner is solely responsible for reporting and paying any and all applicable taxes and registration fees related to the prize and paying expenses associated with any prize, which is not specifically provided for in the official rules. The winner must provide the Basil Automotive Group with valid identification and valid taxpayer indentification number or social security number before any prize will be awarded. Prizes are not transferable, redeemable for cash or exchangeable for any other prize. Any person winning will receive an IRS form 1099 at the end of the calendar year and a copy of such form will be filed with the IRS.
8. Decisions. By participating in the Contest, participants agree to be bound by the decisions of Basil Automotive Group personnel. The Basil Automotive Group reserves the right to disqualify any participant or winner and may refuse to award any prize to a person who is ineligible or who the Basil Automotive Group believes has violated any rule, gained unfair advantage in participating in the Contest, or obtained winner status using fraudulent means. The Basil Automotive Group will interpret these rules and resolve any disputes, conflicting claims or ambiguities concerning the rules or the Contest and the Basil Automotive Group’s decisions concerning such disputes shall be final. If the conduct or outcome of the Contest is affected by human error, any mechanical malfunctions or failures of any kind, intentional interference or any event beyond the control of the Basil Automotive Group, the Basil Automotive Group reserves the right to terminate this Contest, or make such other decisions regarding the outcome as the Basil Automotive Group deems appropriate. All decisions made by the Basil Automotive Group are final. The Basil Automotive Group may waive any of these rules in its sole discretion.
9. Miscellaneous. The winner must submit proof of eligibility and sign the companies release form to claim the prize. No purchase is necessary to participate or win. Purchase does not increase chance of winning. Void where prohibited. Odds of winner depend of number of participants. The Basil Automotive Group may substitute prizes, amend the rules or discontinue the Contest at any time. The Basil Automotive Group disclaims any responsibility to notify participants of any aspect related to the conduct of the Contest. Written copies of these rules are available during normal business hours at Joe Basil Chevrolet, 5111 Transit Road, Depew, NY 14043 and by mail upon written request with stamped, self-addressed return envelope. All entries become the property of the Basil Automotive Group and will not be returned.
10. Compliance with law. The applicable laws of the United States of America govern the conduct of the Contest, which take precedence over any rule to the contrary herein. Basil Automotive Group will follow the applicable laws for conducting contests, including notice to the State Attorney General or consumer affairs office, posting a prize bond, furnishing lists of winners, running specific on-air disclaimers, providing specific written information about the Contest, etc. as required by local or state law.
